How To Use Penetrating Oil Spray for Maximum Results?

When it comes to maintenance, there are a lot of things you can do to keep your equipment in peak condition. But one important step is to regularly lubricate moving parts with rust penetrating spray or similar. Doing this helps reduce wear and tear, and can prevent costly repairs down the road. If you want to get the most out of your lubrication routine, follow these tips:

Tip 1: Use It on Moving Parts

The first step is to identify all the moving parts on your equipment. This includes things like chains, gears, and any other components that come into contact with each other as they move. Once you’ve identified these parts, liberally apply the penetrating oil spray to them. Be sure to get the product into all the nooks and crannies, as this will help ensure maximum coverage.

Tip 2: Let It Penetrate

After applying the spray, let it sit for a few minutes to give it time to penetrate into the metal. This process can vary depending on the product you’re using, so be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. In general, however, you should let the spray sit for at least five minutes before moving on to the next step.

Tip 3: Wipe Off Excess Oil

Once the lubricant has had time to penetrate, use a clean cloth to wipe off any excess oil. This step is important, as too much oil can actually attract dirt and debris, which can ultimately lead to more wear and tear.

Tip 4: Repeat as Needed

Lubricating your equipment is an important part of keeping it in good condition, but it’s not a one-time job. You’ll need to repeat the process on a regular basis to ensure that your equipment remains properly lubricated.
